Box office opens film festival

South Korean director Choo Chang-min will attend the Korean Film Festival opening screening of his movie Masquerade tomorrow at Megastar Vincom Towers.

HA NOI (VNS)– South Korean director Choo Chang-min will attend the Korean Film Festival opening screening of his movie Masquerade tomorrow at Megastar Vincom Towers.

The movie is set in the early 17th-century during the Chosun dynasty and revolves around a commoner who's a dead ringer for the king and agrees to swap places with him after a suspected assassination attempt against the ruler.

The movie stars Lee Byung-hun in the dual role.

Since opening in the country last September, the movie sold over 10 million tickets - one of a handful of Korean movies to reach that lofty goal.

Director Choo and the movie's producer Won Dong-yeon will share their experiences in the film industry with Vietnamese filmmakers in a seminar held by the Korean Cultural Centre.

Masquerade will be screened at 7pm&9.15pm tomorrow and at 4.20pm&6.35pm on Friday. The film festival will show As One, Punch, A Werewolf Boy and Jumbagi with Vietnamese subtitles at Cinema 8.

Underprivileged children in Ha Noi will be invited to see the animated film Jumbagi, according to a centre representative.

The films were also screened in Da Nang City earlier this week. – VNS
