QUANG NINH (VNS)— Striker Alan Bruno of V-League's Quang Ninh Coal may have to hang up his shoes after a severe accident last Friday broke his calf-bone and damaged his ankle.
Bruno crashed into Hoang Anh Gia Lai's Vu Anh Tuan during the round six match at Cam Pha Stadium.
Sports doctor Dong Xuan Lam said there were a number of ligaments torn in Bruno's ankle. The accident also broke a bone break and his ankle was pulled out of its joint, meaning that he had little chance to continue with football.
The Brazilian player is now in Ha Noi waiting for surgery. He has played four matches for Quang Ninh and not scored a goal.
Quang Ninh later defeated Hoang Anh Gia Lai 3-2.
"Despite winning three points, we did not feel very happy because of Bruno's injury. We are having a good tournament. His absence will leave us playing with only two foreigners until the end of the first leg. It would be a little difficult for us," said Nguyen Khac Tiep, head of Quang Ninh Coal football team. — VNS
