HCM CITY (VNS)— An exhibition of Buddhist artefacts from the 11th to 20th century opened yesterday at the HCM City-based Xa Loi Pagoda.

The Buddhist Cultural and Art Heritage show features nearly 300 artefacts collected during the Ly, Tran, Le and Nguyen dynasties.

On display are collections of Buddhist statues and Bodhisattva of Mercy statues made from ceramic, ivory and bronze.

Most of them were made at famous centres of statue production, including Lai Thieu in Binh Duong Province, Bien Hoa in Dong Nai Province and HCM City.

The event also showcases ivory Buddhist statues from Japan and Thailand, as well as ceramic and wood statues from China.

Ceramic products like vases and censers from the 12th-20th century are also on display.

All exhibits are possessions of the Branch of Southern Ceramics Heritage and its members, collector Nguyen Thanh Chuong and researcher Tran Dinh Son.

The exhibition will remain open until May 24 at the pagoda on 39 Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street in District 3. — VNS
