HCM CITY (VNS)— The Ha Noi-based Viet Nam Cai Luong Theatre premiered a new play about the culture of ethnic minority people living in Ha Giang Province at HCM City's Ben Thanh Theatre yesterday.
The cai luong (reformed theatre) performance, Chuyen Tinh Khau Vai (Love Story in Khau Vai Market), is about the love between a young man, Ba, and his girlfriend, Ut, who belong to the different ethnic groups of Nung and Giay.
The couple's tragic love story occurs at Khau Vai Market, a popular mountain destination in Meo Vac District.
According to the theatre's director, Trieu Trung Kien, the US$200,000-play features 70 actors and musicians who worked many hours every day to perfect their performance.
The show will move to Can Tho and Soc Trang after three nights in the city on July 18, 19 and 20. — VNS
