Calligraphers' festival pencilled in for Vung Tau next week

The second festival for Vietnamese calligraphers will be held in Vung Tau City beginning on December 21.

HCM CITY (VNS)— The second festival for Vietnamese calligraphers will be held in Vung Tau City beginning on December 21.

The three-day festival at the Vung Tau Tourism Market is organised by the Viet Nam Book of Records, Vietkings Calligraphers' Club and the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Urban Development Company.

More than 100 calligraphers will offer their works to visitors, helping to bring happiness, success, wealth and health to their families for the coming new year.

A showroom presenting Vietnamese calligraphy paintings will be open at the event.

Le Tran Truong An, Vietbooks general director, said the calligraphy festival would be annually to honour and promote Vietnamese calligraphy to local and international audiences.

The calligraphers' festival was held for the first time in the Trang An Tourism Area in the northern province of Ninh Binh in 2010.

At the festival, six records were set, including Viet Nam's longest parallel calligraphy sentences on silk and a map created with the largest number of red royal seals. — VNS
