An ASEAN-India Car Rally, endorsed and partly funded by the Government of India, will roll into Viet Nam in December through the Moc Bai border gate in southern Tay Ninh Province.
After entering on the afternoon of December 6, the caravan will proceed to HCM City, halt for the night, and leave for the Hoa Lu Border Gate, also in Tay Ninh, with Cambodia.
The rally, comprising 124 passengers and 31 vehicles, is a high-profile initiative to highlight transport connectivity and people-to-people linkages between India and ASEAN member countries.
A series of events, including an ASEAN-India IT and ITES Seminar, a cultural performance and a culinary week, is planned in HCM City around the time of the group's passage through the city.
The vehicles will pass through eight of the 10 ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Laos and Myanmar), missing out on the Philippines and Brunei.
The caravan will return to New Delhi in mid-December when an ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit will be held there with the heads of state or government of the 10 members participating. — VNS
