Cat Ba archipelago, has officially launched a free wi-fi service.
HAI PHONG (VNS)— The Cat Ba tourist destination in the northern port city of Hai Phong's Cat Ba archipelago, has officially launched a free wi-fi service.
The wi-fi service is part of a VND5.4 billion (US$260,000) project to provide wireless Internet access at several key areas, including the city's Conference Centre and the central district.
The news comes days after the Cat Ba archipelago was recognised as a national special relic, in accordance with the Government's Decision No 2383/QD-TTg dated December 9.
These developments will further contribute to the archipelago's efforts to achieve recognition as a world natural heritage site. The dossier was submitted to UNESCO in 2011.
Covering an area of 328.64sq.kmthe Cat Ba archipelago consists of 366 islands and islets and boasts a spectacular landscape of tropical forests, limestone karsts and mangrove wetlands. — VNS
