HCM CITY (VNS) — Vietnamese master Nguyen Huynh Minh Huy was awarded a title at the Borloy-Androvitzky Karoly Memorial, which wrapped up in Hungary last week.

No 2 seed Huy, who has been training here for three years, finished 10 matches without a loss and grabbed 7.5 points to take the top position.

The victory is also the third requirement needed to become a Grandmaster. The Viet Nam Chess Federation is working on completing the final document to submit to the FIDE.

Huy will next fly to Norway and join teammates to compete at the Chess Olympiad in early August.
