HA NOI — Child dancers Dang Quan and Bao Ngoc have won the debut season of Viet Nam's Got Talent, beating three other contenders at the finals held in HCM City.
The winners were voted in by audience members after each pair's final performance. Dang Quan, 11, and Bao Ngoc, 7, were awarded VND400 million (nearly US$20,000) for their charming dance routine that combined dance sports and ballet moves.
Their performance wowed the judges and audience as well as millions of television viewers.
Their dance routine, titled War and Peace, conveyed a significance message, said stage artist Thanh Loc, one of the show's judges.
Quan, who began learning dance sports at the age of 8, has already won several national competitions in Ha Noi, HCM City and Hai Duong.
Ngoc is a member of the Hoa Mi Dance Club in Ha Noi. She has learnt dance since she was 3 years old. Both were trained by teacher Quynh Trang, who is also the choreographer of their dance routines during the competition.
"It's great. I'm happy and joyful," said Quan after the pair were crowned on the night.
Viet Nam's Got Talent ran for six months and drew about 10,000 competitors.
"The performances by Quan and Ngoc were excellent," said Huong Thao, who was a strong contender for the title on the night of the final. The other finalists included Vo Trong Phuc and Vu Song Vu. — VNS
