HCM CITY (VNS)— Marcelo Pino, Chile's most-talked about young sommelier, will take part in a Chile Wine Tour to introduce that country's wines in HCM City on March 31.
As part of the event organised by the Chile Chamber of Commerce in HCM City, there will be a conference titled "The Diversity of Chile Wines from North to South, and East to West" at the Caravelle Hotel that he will chair.
Pino made a name for himself in the industry after winning the 2011 Best Sommelier in Chile prize and represented his country at the 2013 Association de la Sommellerie Internationale Contest for the Best Sommelier of the World held in Tokyo.
He is now rated one of the 10 best sommeliers in Latin-America and is trade name ambassador for Casa Silva's wineries.
Chile Wine Tour will feature 18 producers from that country.
According to the chamber, Viet Nam ranks 24th in the list of countries importing Chilean wines while the Latin American nation is the second largest supplier for Viet Nam.
Last year it exported 2.7 million litres of wine to Viet Nam worth US$9 million, up 40 per cent and 13.5 per cent from 2013. — VNS
