Chinese chess masters to compete for world titles

HA NOI (VNS)—Three Vietnamese will compete at the World Xiangqi (Chinese chess) Championships which start today in Guangdong Province, China.

Masters Ton That Nhat Tan and Uong Duong Bac will compete in the men's individual for a jackpot of RNB50,000 (US$8,200) while Nguyen Hoang Yen is to take part in the women's individual with the champion winning RMB20,000.

The trio will then gather to participate in the men's team category.

At the 13th tournament, which will wrap up on October 27, there are also categories for non Chinese or Vietnamese masters. — VNS
