HA NOI (VNS) — Coach Chen Yun Fa has ended his contract with the Viet Nam Football Federation after nearly eight years working with the women's national team.
On Friday, Chinese national Chen had a meeting with VFF officials and the two sides agreed not to extend their contract, which will come to an end later this month.
He attributed his leaving to his age and his desire to spend more time with his family, and also because of the loss of Viet Nam to Thailand in the competition to win a ticket to Canada's World Cup next year.
After years in Viet Nam, the coach helped the women win a Southeast Asian Championship title, one SEA Games trophy and two silver trophies.
The VFF said a Japanese coach was expected to replace Chen.
The women's team will play two important tournaments this year, with the regional competition in August and the ASIAD in September. — VNS
