HANOI (VNS) — Mai Duc Chung has returned as head coach of the national women's football team, which will take part in the coming Asian Games in South Korea in September.
The position was left vacant after Chinese coach Chen Yun Fa finished his contract several months ago.
The Viet Nam Football Federation has since received nominations from the Japan Football Association, but did not choose a candidate. Chung was then invited for discussions, while the VFF continued looking for suitable candidates.
Chung, 63, resigned as coach of the V-League's Thanh Hoa club after the team failed to win a trophy this season.
Previously, Chung coached the women's team in 2003-05 and earned two SEA Games gold medals. — VNS
