HA NOI (VNS) — Hundreds of athletes from nine countries and territories in Asia will compete in the 21th HCM City International Track and Field Championships - Viet Nam Open 2014, which kicks off tomorrow.
The annual competition, which has been held since 1993, attract athletes from Cambodia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand, and host nation Viet Nam.
Many big, local names like Vu Thi Huong in the women's 100m and 200m events, Vu Van Huyen in the men's pole vault and decathlon and Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc in the women's walk, will compete in the event.
Of international teams, South Korea and Philippines are sending the largest contingent.
There are also four international referees from Thailand and Singapore to officiate at the events. — VNS
