Teenager Tran Duy Khoi bagged a gold medal in the boys' 50m backstroke on the final day of the National Youth Swimming Championships to help HCM City come out on top at the tourney yesterday.
The team won 22 gold, 24 silver and 10 bronze medals to beat Binh Phuoc, who ranked second with eight golds and one bronze.
The Military Sport Centre 5 team came third with four gold, eight silver and three bronze medals.
Khoi, 15, took 27.39sec to beat Nguyen Trong Nhan Nghia and Hai Phong's Nguyen Ngoc Trien.
Khoi and his teammate also won another gold in the boys' 400m medley relay with a time of 4min 3.56sec, shaving 14 seconds off runners-up Long An (4min17.08sec).
HCM City's swimmers also dominated the girls' 400m medley relay with 4min 41.26sec, beating the Military Sport Centre 5 team and the home team of Da Nang.
Tran Thi Hong Cam of Long An broke two junior records in the girls' 200m and 400m freestyle on the last day of competition.-VNS
