HA NOI (VNS) — A street concert series entitled Luala Autumn-Winter 2015 has been organised on the pavement of Ly Thai To Street on Sunday afternoons between November 15 and December 13.

The autumn-winter concert, the sixth of its kind, will feature performances by Vietnamese and foreign vocalists and instrumentalists, such as Japanese harpist Aya Matsumoto, pianist Boomi Jang from the South Korea, oboist Nguyen Hoang Tung and cellist Tran Thi Mo, as well as opera singer Vo Hong Quan and young talented pianist Ngo Phuong Vi.

Conducted by Nguyen Khac Thanh, each of the five shows would have a different theme, the organising board said at a recent press conference in Ha Noi.

The first show on November 15 mesmerised classical music enthusiasts with waltz pieces by J Strauss. The second concert on November 22 will have classical pieces by world-renowned composers, while the third one on November 29 will dedicate the performing space to pianist Ngo Phuong Vi and the orchestra.

Junior members of the audience will be able to enjoy the musical Peter and the Wolf by Sergey Prokofiev on December 6. The last show on December 13 will have solo performances by harpist Matsumoto.

As in its previous editions, the concert will introduce a festive atmosphere with the lighting of a Christmas tree on its last day in anticipation of Christmas and New Year holidays.

"In order to perform classical music on the street, I have to overcome many obstacles," cellist Mo, who has participated in the previous editions of the concert, said. "There are too many disturbances. People talk and walk around. My first feeling is that I am not being respected. Yet, the sound was amplified and people still paid attention. So we were satisfied."

Mo said many people came by bus to see the shows.

The show will be held between 3pm and 5pm every Sunday from November 15 to December 13. — VNS
