HCM CITY (VNS) — Viet Nam's sovereignty over the Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagoes is the main theme in the latest volumes of the widely popular comic series Than Dong Dat Viet (Vietnamese Child Prodigies).

The first volume, entitled Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagoes: Sovereignty Affirmation, was presented to young readers on Wednesday in HCM City by Phan Thi Education, Communications and Entertainment JSC.

The 100-page comic book is about the adventures of Trang Ty (Prodigy Ty) and his friends, including a princess from the Nguyen dynasty, to discover the islands.

Alongside the dramatic details of the adventures, the book also features historical facts, proving that Viet Nam's sovereignty over the two archipelagoes has been exercised for several centuries since the Nguyen dynasty.

In creating the book, the editors have referred to several historical documents.

Historian Nguyen Nha, a researcher in the history of the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagoes, was invited to be the copy-editor for the book.

"I affirmed the accuracy of the documents used for the book," he said.

According to the historian, the comic expresses a simple and understandable message about patriotism as well as knowledge on the country's sea and island sovereignty.

He also expects that the comic will have an English-Vietnamese bilingual version soon.

The second episode entitled Lanh Tho An Nam (An Nam's Territory) will be published in December. The series is expected to have 10 episodes.

At the book release ceremony on Wednesday, through the Navy Command, the Phan Thi Company has given 200 copies of the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagoes: Sovereignty Affirmation to children living on the Spratly islands.

Earlier, the Phan Thi Company published hundreds of episodes of the comic series Than Dong Dat Viet on different topics. — VNS
