HCM CITY (VNS) — Several companies in HCM City are doing charity targeted at disadvantaged children to mark the Mid-Autumn Festival today.
Conglomerate Tin Nghia Corp held a charitable festival to give away scholarships, 1,000 gifts, and 10,000 notebooks worth VND500 million (US$22,935) to nearly 1,000 orphans and unprivileged children in Dong Nai Province.
Confectioner Kinh Do Corp. gave 8,000 gifts worth VND750 million ($34,403) to poor children in HCM City, Ha Noi, Tra Vinh, An Giang, Ben Tre, and Binh Phuoc.

Property developer Phu My Hung Corp. and the Lawrence S.Ting Foundation donated more than 150 wheelchairs and 70 other devices worth VND357 million ($16,376) to disabled people, orphans, and poor patients in Khanh Hoa Province.
Viet Nam Breweries last week gave gifts worth VND320 million ($14,678) to poor and disabled children in HCM City's District 12. It is expected that the same actitivities will take place in Quang Nam, Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Nha Trang, An Giang, Ben Tre and Binh Phuoc.
