HCM CITY (VNS)— A new concert series called Bon Mua Tinh Ca (Season of Love Songs) will raise funds for children of soldiers on Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago.
The series, which will begin on Sunday, is organised by the Thanh Nien Communication Group.
The programme will be held every quarter, and funds will be used to hand out 10 to 20 scholarships to deserving students.
Le Quy Duong, the series' scriptwriter and director, said the programme, which targets audiences aged over 30, would consist of love songs.
The first concert with the theme Cho Nguoi, Cho Ta (For You, For Me) will be held at the White Palace Convention Centre. Love songs by the late composer Trinh Cong Son as well as Quoc Bao, Truong Sa and Duc Huy will be featured.
Veteran singer Cam Van will sing Son's compositions Tinh Nho (Love's Yearning) and Ha Trang (White Summer), while composer Duc Huy will perform his original song Bay Di Canh Chim Bien (Fly, Sea Birds).
The Nam Dong Ke Band, singers Duc Tuan and My Linh will also perform.
Backup group Cadillac and an orchestra conducted by Tran Nat Minh will provide support for the singers.
The show will begin at 8pm at White Palace, 194 Hoang Van Thu Street, in Phu Nhuan District.
Tickets are VND2 million (US$95) and can be bought at the Thanh Nien Group, 345/143 Tran Hung Dao Street, in District 1. The number of tickets is limited to 500. — VNS
