HA NOI (VNS)— A group of young disabled people will take on the challenge of conquering Mount Fansipan in an event that draws people from all walks of life to the famous destination in northern Viet Nam.
The "Conquering Fansipan Together" event starts today in Sa Pa Town, Lao Cai Province and aims to promote the inclusion of disabled people in society. The four-day event is co-organised by Medical Committee Netherlands-Viet Nam (MCNV) and the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Viet Nam.
"Building a good society starts with making it possible for everyone to participate; that is inclusion," said Cas van der Horst from the Dutch Embassy in Viet Nam. Joining the young, disabled mountaineers are people from MCNV, the embassy as well as central and local authorities, who are stakeholders in inclusive development, teaming up to reach Fansipan's peak.
This event is one of many activities celebrating the 45th year of MCNV in Viet Nam and 40 years of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and the Netherlands.-VNS
