HA NOI (VNS) — A competition on the discovery of world heritage sites and traditions has been launched here to give competitors an opportunity to show off their knowledge about the capital city's legacy.

The contestants may also propose solutions for the conservation and development of these sites and traditions.

The competition carries the theme "Discover World Heritag Sites in Ha Noi, The City for Peace" and aims to preserve and further promote the historical and cultural values of these sites and traditions.

Entries may be sent to the Ha Noi Cultural Fund under the Ha Noi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in various forms such as written texts, reports, short films and graphic products. Written and graphic entries may also be sent by email to disanvanhoahanoi@gmail.com.

Entries must be in by December 15. Results will be announced on December 26.

The capital city has four UNESCO cultural heritage sites and traditions, including the central sector of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, exactly 82 stone stele records of doctoral laureates in the Temple of Literature, the Giong Saint Festival in Soc Temple, and ca tru (ceremonial singing).

The competition is one of the activities commemorating the capital city's 15th year as the UNESCO-recognised City for Peace, as well as the 10th anniversary of the Viet Nam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23. — VNS
