The tunnels, which were dug in the late 1940s with a total length of 200km as of 1965, were used by Vietnamese solders during the fight against France and the US as living quarters, hospitals, supply routes, food and weapon caches.
The tunnels now have a total length of 120km and are one of the city's most popular tourism destinations. — VNS
