HANOI (VNS) — National team member Nguyen Thi That won the first stage of the International Women's Cycling Binh Duong Open yesterday.
That of the Vinh Binh An Giang Rice won the 105km stage between Binh Duong City and Xuan Loc District of the Dong Nai Province, clocking a time of 3:18.35.
That made a strong sprint in the last 50m of the stage, leaving behind her teammates, Tran Thi Phuong Trang and Phan Thi Lieu.
With its cyclists occupying the top three positions, An Giang led the team ranking with a total time of 9:56.39. Binh Duong Water Supply and Drainage and a team from Japan came second and third, respectively.
That is also the current leader in the green jersey classification with 18 points. She will wear the yellow jersey at the start of the second stage today. The second stage covers a distance of 80 km and will start in Bao Loc City and end in the Duc Trong town of Lam Dong.
The event, which is popularly known as the Bisawe Cup, has attracted 70 cyclists from 11 local and three foreign teams.
