HA NOI (VNS) — V-League side Dong Tam Long An yesterday ended Dak Lak's dream journey at the National Cup's quarter-final round match with a 3-1 triumph on the away ground in Buon Me Thuot City.
In the last-eighth round on May 18 the First Division League's Dak Lak silented Ha Noi T&T, the V-League defending champions, 5-3 after a penalty shootout at Hang Day Stadium.
It seemed that the hosts would continue with their fairy tail story when Nguyen Hong Quan opened the score just six minutes to the match.
The heavy rain left many puddles on the field, causing difficulties to both two sides. When Dong Tam Long An players were confusing with the problem, Quan stole the ball and defeated goalie Nguyen Tien Phong.
Dong Tam Long An found the solution using high balls and opened consecutive attacks to test keeper Nguyen Sy Khang of Dak Lak. They found their equal at the 38th minute when Ganiyu Bolayi Oseni was successful with a penalty. The Nigerian striker then completed his hattrick with acurate nettings at the 42nd and 90th minutes.
Coach Lu Dinh Tuan of Dak Lak lured his players up seeking for other goal. However they failed to switch the situation.
Dong Tam Long An will play Hai Phong in the semi-final round. The other match will see Becamex Binh Duong vs Hoang Anh Gia Lai. Time table for the round would be confirmed later. — VNS
