HA NOI (VNS) — Tieu Cong Dat of Hai Duong team snatched two records and two gold medals at the National Youth Shooting Championships in Ha Noi yesterday.
It was his third medal here. The first one was in the men's 50m pistol event on Tuesday.
Dat set his first record and took the gold in the men's 10m air pistol individual event with 572 points, one more than the previous record which was made up by soldier Vu Tan Duong of the military four years ago.
His teammate Ngo Quoc Hung who had same number of points was placed second. Ngo Quoc Vu of the hosts was third with 563 points.
Dat's second record came from the team event as he grouped with Hung and Nguyen Hoai Son to total 1,699 points.
The old record of 1,683 was made by their senior teammate at last year championships.
HCM City and Ha Noi secured the next two places, respectively, in the ranking.
Hanoian Nguyen Cong Dau pocketed his second title for the men's 10m running target mixed individual event.
His teammate Le Thanh Nam was second, followed by Le Tuan Dat of the military.
Dau's performance, however, did not help his squad win the team title which went to the military. Ha Noi was in second place.
The hosts grabbed the second gold when Phung Viet Dung triumphed in the men's 50m rifle prone individual class.
Hoang Dinh Tu of Thanh Hoa and Tran Duc Cong from Hai Duong were second and third, respectively.
The team title also belonged to the hosts who shot 1,721 points. They were followed by Thanh Hoa and HCM City, respectively.
Ha Noi strengthened its top position in the medal tally with eight. Hai Duong who grabbed five were second and Dong Nai who did not win in any category yesterday, were down to the third place.
The annual championships will conclude on Sunday. — VNS
