Yesterday Dat beat Alraisi Asad of Oman 11-4, 11-3, 11-4, 11-4 in the men's singles event.
Dat will next meet Jiang Tianyi of Hong Kong.
Dinh Quang Linh withdrew from a match against Lam Chee Yin of Malaysia.
In the men's doubles duo Nguyen Anh Tu and Tran Tuan Quynh advanced to the third round after beating Al-Mohannadi Ahmad and Li Ping 3-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 1-11.
They will face Chiang Hung-Chieh and Chuang Chih-Yuan from Chinese Taipei in the next round.
Vietnamese interest in the women's doubles has ended after Phan Hoang Tuong Giang and Nguyen Thi Viet Linh lost 11-7, 11-4, 10-12, 11-4 to Lee Zion and Yang Haeun of South Korea.
The Asian championships has featured more than 280 athletes competing in seven categories in which China have already won the men's and women's team events.
