(VNS) Omiazakov Dias of Kazakhstan's Astana team won the fourth stage of the ADC Tour of Viet Nam yesterday.
In the journey from Long Xuyen City to Chau Doc City and back to Can Tho City, Huang En of China's Max Success Sports stole the yellow jersey.
Le Ngoc Son of Domesco Dong Thap Pharmacy and Nguyen Nam Cuc of Sai Gon Plant Protection opened an early attack right after the start. They managed to hold the lead for 5km before a group of racers caught up.
At the 20km mark the quartet of Dias, John Ebsen of Brunei's CCN, Choi Sukyoon of South Korea's Euijeongbu City and Ibrahim Abidul Rashid of the Malaysian national team pedaled hard to separate from the peloton.
They were later joined by Tuulkhangai Tuguldur and Altanzul Altansukh of the Mongolian CCN.
Dias, with five powerful rivals on his tail, successfully won the 175km stage with a time of 4hr 5.04min, leaving the pack behind by a mere eight-second gap.
Tuguldur was second and Salleh Mohd Zamri of Malaysia's Terrenganu-TSG team came in third.
Huang was not in the top three but led the time ranking with his result of 15:47.41. Mai Nguyen Hung of the HCM City Eximbank team, who kept the yellow jersey in the two previous stages, was second. Rajablou Mohamad from Ayandeh of Iran was third.
Eximbank led the team ranking. Hong Kong and Eleven of the Philippines were second and third, respectively.
