HCM CITY (VNS)— Famous football striker Phan Thanh Binh, who plays for the Dong Tam Long An Football Club, has accepted actress and director Viet Trinh's invitation to play a role in her new movie.

In the television serial Tro Ve No 3 (Coming Back) directed by Trinh, Binh will be the son of a Thai man.

In a previous television serial directed by Trinh, Vo Cua Chong Toi (My Husband's Wife), Binh's wife Thao Trang had played a minor role.

When his wife was acting, the footballer had responded to queries about his constant presence on the sets, saying he was not jealous but present there only to encourage her and look after her things.

Trinh said that after seeing the couple's enthusiasm and passion for movies, she decided to invite them to act in her new serial, which is an extension of two previous editions (Tro Ve No 1 and No 2) that have been aired on HCM City Television.

Binh said he was surprised by the offer. With a minor role, the football striker will not spend much time acting. "My team and I see Vo Cua Chong Toi on television almost every night. Seeing my wife on the screen, they suggested that I play a role. I cannot believe that now I am invited."

The new serial will also feature several popular models and artists including Duc Tien, Van Phuong, Diem Chau, Hieu Hien, On Bich Hang and Trong Thinh. Chau Tho is the serial's scriptwriter. — VNS
