HA NOI (VNS) — Veteran cyclist Nguyen Thuy Dung won another gold medal at the ongoing National Sports Games' cycling tournament in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh yesterday.
Dung, from Binh Duong, took the lead in the women's 3km individual time-trial category with a time of 4:08.22. The 17th Asian Games silver medallist, Nguyen Thi That of An Giang, came second, and the third place went to Nguyen Thi Thanh of Dong Thap.
In the women's 3km team time-trial division, the three leading positions went to Binh Duong, An Giang and Dong Thap.
In the men's 4km individual time-trial event, Bui Minh Thuy of Vinh Long defeated other strong competitors to take home the gold medal with a time of 5:08.86. Huynh Thanh Tung of the Military team and Trinh Duc Tam of Ha Noi were the runners-up.
In the men's team, HCM City bagged the gold medal, while Vinh Long and An Giang won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Earlier, Binh Duong's Dung triumphed in the women's 30km points race with 18 points, followed by Thanh of Dong Thap with 12 points and An Giang's That with 11 points.
The tournament has attracted 180 cyclists from 12 teams nationwide. — VNS
