HA NOI — Tran Quoc Dung of Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap won the 12th stage of HCM City Television Cycling Cup yesterday after passing national team member Bui Minh Thuy at the finish line.

However, Thuy of ADC-Vinh Long Television, stole the yellow jersey from Mai Nguyen Hung of Sai Gon Plant Protection.

Thuy spent 37:50.04 after 12 stages of the race. Hung is close behind on 37:50.29 and Nguyen Truong Tai of Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap is in third with a combined time of 37:50.46.

Dung and Thuy led the pack after 50km opening up a gap of nearly 2min in the 140km from Nha Trang City to Da Lat City.

Cyclists of Sai Gon Plant Protection tried their best to catch the leaders to protect Hung's yellow jersey. Despite their efforts they finished in the rear group.

Dung finished the stage first in a time of 4:23.58, clocking up an average speed of 31.82kmph. Thuy finished second followed by Trinh Duc Tam of ADC-Vinh Long Television.

Le Ngoc Son of Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap earned 12 points for the best time through Khanh Le and Giang Ly mountain passes.

Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap are leading the team event with an overall time of 113:30.09.

Today cyclists will compete in the 52km thirteenth stage around Xuan Huong lake in Da Lat City. — VNS
