HA NOI (VNS) — Talented singer Tung Duong will represent Viet Nam at the first-ever ASEAN One Multicultural Festival that will be held on July 10 in Chiangmai city, Thailand.
The festival, which is expected to be held annually from this year, is devoted to jazz artists coming from Asian countries such as Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines and Indonesia, as well as Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos and Viet Nam.
"Jazz has always inspired me and has stayed with me in my career. I feel honoured to be invited to the show, and I hope that I can bring Vietnamese culture to international friends," Duong said.
The 31-year-old artist said he would sing some of his most successful songs, such as Chiec Khan Pieu (The Pieu Scarf), Con Tam (The Silkworm) and Feeling Good at the festival.
The singer had performed at the Doc Dao Concert in Paris (France) in 2014, along with singer Nguyen Le and other foreign artists. In 2007, he took part in the Vong Nguyet festival with Danish artist Niels Lan Doky and musician Quoc Trung.
The artist plans to come out with a CD of his songs that will be composed by Giang Son in jazz style.
Duong became famous after the 2004 music contest Sao Mai Diem Hen (Morning Star Rendezvous), which he won. He has been appreciated by Vietnamese audiences for his sweet voice and the variety of music he performs, such as pop, jazz, electronic and contemporary folk music. — VNS
