HCM CITY (VNS)— A DVD featuring children's love of family and life was released this week to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The album Nhung Dieu Con Yeu (Things Children Love) consists of 10 videos of songs by composer Nguyen Van Chung of HCM City.
Chung's song Nhat Ky Cua Me (Mother's Diary) was a hit with parents and children.
"I've spent two years to make the DVD," Chung said, adding that he had talked to children to learn more about their feelings.
The songs include Co Tich Dem He (A Fairytale on a Summer Night), Cam On Chu Bo Doi (Thanks to the Soldier), and Ngoi Nha Banh Keo (House of Candy).
The Voice Kids
It features the voices of winners in the Viet Nam Television's singing contest for children, The Voice Kids, such as My Uyen, Tram Anh and Ngoc Phung.
A karaoke version of the DVD is also included.
On Mid-Autumn Day, which falls Sunday this year, Chung and his partner will organise a Mid-Autumn Festival event for children at District 7's SC VivoCity mall.
The event will feature Vietnamese pop stars and children's voices.
Chung, 32, began composing when he was in college. He has written nearly 200 songs, including hits such as Vang Trang Khoc (Tears of Moon), Chiec Khan Gio Am (Beautiful Scarf) and Chuyen Tinh Duoi Mua (Love in Rain).
Many young listeners appreciate Chung's ability to mix different musical styles. His music combines traditional and modern styles, using Vietnamese folk elements.
Two years ago, he released his first album for children titled Gia Dinh Nho, Hanh Phuc To (My Family, My Happyness).
It included Nhat Ky Cua Me about a mother's feelings and thoughts during her child's growth, performed by pop star Hien Thuc. It won several titles at nationwide competitions for composer and performer.
Last month, the song was included in the CD The Best of Ballroom Music Vol 36, which features 45 works performed by popular artists and bands from a number of countries.
It was produced by the German-based music company Casa Musica and released worldwide. — VNS
