SOC TRANG (VNS)—Up to 11 teams will participate in the National Junior Sepak Takraw Championships which began yesterday at the Centre for Training and Sporting Competition in Soc Trang Province.

Athletes from up to nine provinces will compete in the competition, including Ha Noi, Nghe An, Dong Nai, HCM City and hosts Soc Trang. Teams are expected to compete across five categories including women's and men's team and singles, and mixed team.

According to Le Thanh Son, general secretary of the Viet Nam Sepak Takraw Federation, the tournament allowed officials to select the best athletes for upcoming tournaments.

The event also provides a platform for teams to gain experience at the competition level. The tournament will run until next Thursday, August 15.-VNS
