encyclopaedia in English, has been published in the Vietnamese language
and is on sale in large libraries nationwide.
HA NOI (VNS) — The Encyclopaedia Britannica, a general knowledge encyclopaedia in English, has been published in the Vietnamese language and is on sale in large libraries nationwide.
The Vietnam Education Publishing House published a two-volume 3,000-page Vietnamese version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, which includes more than 25,000 word categories in 51 classifications.
Entitled Tu Dien Bach Khoa Britannica, the volumes have 300 additional words about Viet Nam, selected by well-known Vietnamese scholars.
The encyclopaedia has been translated into Vietnamese by 54 Vietnamese experts over eight years, including professors and foreign language professors from major universities.
The Britannica is the oldest encyclopaedia in English that is still being printed. It is written by about 100 full-time editors and more than 4,000 contributors, including 110 Nobel Prize winners and five American presidents. — VNS
