HA NOI (VNS) — A two-month long contest for young Vietnamese artists was launched by the Korean Cultural Centre and the Vietnamese culture, sports and tourism ministry's exhibition, photography and fine arts department yesterday.
The painting contest, entitled South Korea in the Eyes of Vietnamese Young Artists, will encourage local artists under the age of 35 to discover Korean culture and promote cultural exchange between the two countries.
"The contest is being held to seek and support young Vietnamese artists in developing their career," the Centre's Director Park Nark-jong said.
Each contestant can send one painting via email to the Korean cultural centre in the first round, and by post to 49, Nguyen Du Street in the second round.
The local artists can go to the website or the Facebook page launched by the Korean centre to learn more about Korea.
The first and the second prize winners will win a one-week trip to Korea, sponsored by the Korean Hansae Group.
An exhibition featuring artworks by the first prize winner will be held at the Korean Culture Centre next year.
The third prize winner will receive a cash prize of US$300.
The contest will be judged by Director Park; head of the exhibition, photography and fine arts department Vi Kien Thanh; Korean expat artist Choi Bong-sik and Dean of the Viet Nam Academy of Fine Arts Le Van Suu.
About 70 of the best entries will be selected for display in an exhibition slated for December 1, 2015, at the Korean Culture Centre. — VNS
