DA NANG (VNS)– Maps and research on Viet Nam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos will be on display at an exhibition entitled Paracels of Viet Nam-Historical Evidence from April 29 to May 15.

Director of the city's foreign affairs department, Luong Minh Sam, said the exhibition was timed to coincide with the International Fireworks Competition next week, which is estimated to draw around 500,000 tourists.

He said 30 of 150 maps published between 1626 and 1980, as well as three Postal Atlas Maps, will be shown at the 16-day exhibition.

All exhibits are in both English and Vietnamese.

Earlier this year, a collection of 150 maps donated by the Vietnamese-American president of the Institute for Vietnamese Culture and Education, Tran Thang, was shown in the central city.

The collection includes a collection of 95 maps published between 1626 and 1980, 10 of which indicate that the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos belong to Viet Nam, as well as 102 books published in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch and Han Chinese script.

Many maps in the exhibition also indicate that the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos are under Viet Nam's sovereignty. – VNS
