HA NOI — Vietnamese Family Festive Day will kick off tomorrow in Ha Noi, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The three-day festival will support the Day of Vietnamese Family on June 28 and the family's significant role in society's development.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Viet Nam Culture and Arts Centre tomorrow night although sideline activities will kick off in the morning. They will include discussions on "prevention and treatment of common diseases contracted in house" and "methods to take care your health at home". The discussions will be chaired by the Elder People's Healthcare Consultancy and Support Centre.
Highlights of the second day will be a grand tai chi performance by 500 elderly people and a lullaby singing performance presented by members of elderly people's clubs in Ha Noi and other neighbouring provinces. They include Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong and Nam Dinh. Lullaby singing is fading in modern life, so the performance will be significant.
A ballroom dancing competition for middle-aged and elderly contestants will be held in the evening.
A playground for children will be set up within the centre, creating a "fairy tale garden". University students will become storytellers or will teach children how to play traditional and other games.
More than 60 favourite household products, which have been voted by the subscribers of camnanggiadinh.com.vn – a website that specialises in consumption consultancy – will be on display in a separate zone.
The role of young people in building a modern family will be the topic of a discussion to be co-hosted on Thursday by the Ha Noi Culture, Sports and Tourism Department and the Ha Noi Youth Union.
A meeting of 100 typical young families, who have achieved outstanding success and made a significant contribution to society, will be held on Thursday evening. — VNS
