HCM CITY (VNS) — A comedy-adventure film adapted from the online game League of Legends, known as LoL, will be released in cinemas this weekend to begin the Christmas season in HCM City.
Produced by Phu Hai, a private film studio in HCM City, the film Lien Minh Huyen Thoai tells the story of three young men and two women struggling to find a treasure in the jungle.
The film's producer and director Pham Van Hai worked for over a year to complete Lien Minh Huyen Thoai, performing all tasks from editing the script to casting.
Hai and his staff of more than 100 travelled to remote areas in Da Lat, Bao Loc and Madaguoi of Lam Dong Province to film scenes of adventures.
Young actors, including Lily Luta, Thanh Tu, Nam Long, Hoa Hiep and Huynh Anh, play leading roles in the film.
"To entertain young audiences, my film includes both comedy and kung-fu scenes," said Hai, one of Phu Hai studio's owners.
The online game LoL, a production of Riod Games released in 2009, has attracted 67 million players a month in North America and Europe, according to Hai.
It is very popular among Vietnamese online gamers.
Hai invited young actors to play the roles because "they are all online gamers and have beauty and performances that meet audiences' requirements."
"I believe my film will have success in ticket sales," he said. — VNS
