HA NOI (VNS) — The Phuong Nam Film Company has bought the exclusive rights to 50 songs performed by noted overseas singer Khanh Ly for the next 15 years. The company and the singer recently signed a contract.
Of the 50 songs, 40 were composed by noted musician Trinh Cong Son and the remaining ones were by Pham Duy. All the songs were recorded in five CDs overseas long time ago.
This is the first time that Khanh Ly's albums are permitted in Viet Nam.
Next month, Phuong Nam Book will publish an autobiography of the singer, titled Dang Sau Nhung Nu Cuoi (Behind Smiles), which will tell the ups and downs during the 50 years of her music career.
Ly, whose real name is Nguyen Thi Le Mai, began her singing career in 1960 in Sai Gon. She is considered as one of the most successful performers of Trinh Cong Son's ballads. — VNS
