HA NOI (VNS) — A documentary about late Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh (1915-1998), who made invaluable contributions to Vietnamese revolutionary efforts and economic reform, will be aired on Viet Nam Television to celebrate his 100 birth anniversary on July 1.
The 40-minute documentary tells the story of the leader's revolutionary career, with a focus on his imprisonment in Con Dao Jail by the US, his five-time appointment as the general secretary of the HCM City's Party Committee and his contributions to the first period of the country's doi moi (renewal) process beginning in 1991.
Director Pham Hong Dang's documentary team spent a lot of time gathering materials from the Party's agencies and Linh's family.
Interviews with late Minister of Home Affairs Mai Chi Tho, late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, Linh's wife Ngo Thi Hue and Linh himself when he was alive were scattered throughout the documentary. — VNS
