The sixth Da Nang International Fireworks Competition opened in the central city of Da Nang yesterday.
The competition, entitled Love for the Han River, drew five teams: Russian centre Khan, Melrose Pyrotechnics from the US, Tamaya Kitahara of Japan, Italy's Parente and the host team from Da Nang City.

Last year, Parente won the competition for the second time in a row with their colourful performance Rainbow of Da Nang.

A 28,000-seat stage was set up along the Han River on Tran Hung Dao Street, the central road of the city.
A series of cultural events including street music performances, a cuisine festival and a display of national relics took place to promote the competition.
The two-night competition drew around 400,000 domestic and foreign spectators. – VNS
