HA NOI (VNS)— If a complete stranger walks up to you on Sunday with arms outstretched and a smile on his or her face, don't run!

It will be part of a free hugs campaign being held in Ha Noi, HCM City and Nha Trang.

Entitled We're Here to do One Thing, the campaign has been organised by Free Hugs Viet Nam, a non-profit youth organisation dedicated to community activities.

The purpose of the event is to encourage people to display their love, affection and care towards one another through the simple measure of a tight embrace – free of course!

About 300 volunteers will offer hugs to strangers in public places, including the shopping mall at Vincom in Ba Trieu in Ha Noi, HCM City's Tao Dan Park, and the April 2 Square on Tran Phu Road in Nha Trang.

Last year, 200 young volunteers joined the campaign. — VNS
