French pianist Michael Bourdoncle to perform at Ha Noi Opera House


French pianist Michael Bourdoncle will perform for two nights with the Viet Nam Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) at the Ha Noi Opera House this week.

HA NOI — French pianist Michael Bourdoncle will perform for two nights with the Viet Nam Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) at the Ha Noi Opera House this week.

Under the baton of Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji, the French artist and the VNSO will present Piano Concerto No1 D minor Op15 and Symphony No1 C minor Op 68 by Johannes Brahms.

Bourdoncle has played at prestigious venues all over the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, La Salla in San Paolo, the Tchaikowski Hall in Moscow, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Kyoto Concert Hall, the Salle Gaveau and the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.

His repertoire includes works by Tchaikowski, Liszt, Bizet, Vincent d'Indy and Deodat de Severac.

In 1993, Bourdoncle started the Nuits Pianistiques (Piano Nights) festival in Aix-en-Provence, and he has extended the event to Moldova, Germany, Italy and the UK in recent years.

He was among the judges of the first Ha Noi International Piano Competition hosted by the Viet Nam Music Institute and the Talent Supporting Development Centre in 2010.
