HCM CITY (VNS) — Dozens of singers and theatre artists will perform in a cultural exchange at the HCM Television Theatre on Sunday to raise funds for soldiers stationed in frontier areas and on the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.
Called Huong Ve Bien Gioi, Bien Dao To Quoc (Reaching the Country's Frontiers, Seas and Islands), the event will include traditional and contemporary music composed by composers such as Phan Huynh Dieu, An Thuyen and Xuan Hong.
Singers Anh Bang and Ha Tram will perform songs about the country's seas and islands.
Cai luong (reformed opera) actors Que Tran and Vo Minh Lam will stage vong co (nostalgia) songs and extracts from popular plays in praise of soldiers, such as Tieng Trong Me Linh (The Sound of Me Linh Drum) and Thai Hau Duong Van Nga (Queen Duong Van Nga).
Soldier guests will share their stories during the event.
The show is organised by the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of HCM City and HCM City Television.
It will be broadcast live on HTV9 at 8.30pm on Sunday. The theatre is at 9 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 1. — VNS
