Vietnamese futsal (indoor football) club Thai Son Nam qualified for the 2012 Asian Futsal Club Championship with a win over Pelindo FC.
Thai Son Nam edged past the Indonesian team with a 2-1 extra-time victory in the semifinal of the Zone 2 qualifiers on Friday to earn a ticket to the continental finals to be held in June in Kuwait.
Pham Thanh Tuan scored two minutes into extra time after the sides were locked 1-1 in regulation time.
Tran Van Vu opened the score in the 13th minute but Taufiq's equaliser in the 18th minute forced the teams into extra time.
The HCM City-based club had earlier beaten China's Guangzhou Baiyunshan (3-1) and Meccabi FC of Australia (1-0) in the group stage to set up the clash against Pelindo in the last four.
Thailand's GH Bank RBAC, who demolished China's Guangzhou Baiyunshan FC 8-1 in the other semifinal, also qualified from Zone 2. — VNS
