in Singapore last weekend.

HA NOI (VNS) — A lacquer painting by noted Vietnamese artist, the late Nguyen Gia Tri, was the second-most expensive work to be sold at the Larasati Auction in Singapore last weekend.
The painting, entitled Trong Vuon (In the Garden) and measuring 121.5cm by 171cm, was sold for S$134,200 (US$99,372). It was among 50 works sold at the auction.
The most expensive work sold at the auction was a painting by a Chinese artist, which fetched S$146,400.
Tri (1908-1993) is considered to be one of the leading artists of Vietnamese modern fine arts, together with To Ngoc Van (1906-1954), Nguyen Tuong Lan (1906-1946) and Tran Van Can (1910-1994). — VNS
