The first HCM City Golf Open will be held on January 17-18.

Sponsored by the Saigon Golf Association, the event has lured nearly 290 participants who will compete, based on their handicap points, in numerous categories, including the Men's Open, The King, The Bear, The Shark, and Ladies' Open.

Athletes in the four latter classes will play on January 18, while the remaining golfers will compete in a two-day competition.

The winners of the tournament will receive a number of prizes, including a wildcard to take part in next year's tournament.

According to Andrew Hung Pham, the Open's executive director, organisers have planned to make the tournament an annual international event with, in the future, the participation of foreigners. — VNS
