HA NOI (VNS)- Chess grandmaster Le Quang Liem has jumped a step to 40th in world ranking, according to the World Chess Federation's December list released on Sunday.

Liem ranks fourth in Asia and No 1 in Southeast Asia.

On the women's side, the sole representative from Viet Nam is GM Pham Le Thao Nguyen, standing at 52nd.

None of Viet Nam's junior boys are in the top 100, but Nguyen Thi Mai Hung is No 26 in the girls' ranking. – VNS
