HA NOI (VNS)— Hundreds of young Vietnamese are expected at the Viet Nam National Museum of History this weekend to enjoy a German Festival.
The two-day festival is being held by the Germany Embassy and German cultural and educational organisations and businesses.
Le Phuong Hoa from the Ha Noi Goethe Institute said it would display posters and a collage of artworks to mark the 200th anniversary of Grimm's Fairy Tales.
Films Cinderella and A Magic-Table Cloth will be shown at 4.30pm on Saturday and at 12pm on Sunday.
Documentary film lovers will be treated to such shows as Facing Forward, Challenges in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta, Wastewater Treatment – For Clean Urban Environment, Wind Energy in Viet Nam, and Creating Contours.
The 15-minute Facing Forward is about the more than 12 million people living with disabilities in Viet Nam. Many of them are children in rural areas, where access to rehabilitation and educational services is limited.
Their families face financial burdens, helplessness, despair and stigmatisation.
The film shows the challenges – and how parents learn to understand the special needs of their children.
Screenings will take place at 2pm on Saturday and 11am on Sunday in the museum hall.
The festival will also feature music performances, poetry and drama. So Good Fusion Band will play jazz music and German songs at 4.30pm on Saturday and 9.30am on Sunday.
Poems and drama will be performed by students from Dong Da High School.
A seminar on communication will be hosted by the German Embassy at the hall at 6pm on Saturday. Quiz shows, games and sport competitions will be held. — VNS
