HA NOI (VNS)—Vietnamese Phan Thi Ha Thanh set a personal record and won a berth in the final round of the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships which is ongoing in Belgium.
The world bronze medallist scored 15.066 points in the women's vault event in her second attempt on Wednesday. An average of 14.966 points placed her in fourth after the qualification and allowed her to compete in the finals tomorrow.
Her previous best result was 14.825 points set up earlier this year.
The top places went to McKayla Maroney and Simone Biles of the US and Hong Un-jong from North Korea.
The Hai Phong-City girl is only among six Vietnamese athletes to win a final round berth.
At the world championships two years ago, Thanh took an historical bronze after scoring 14.666 points.
